This iDBO project was a 30,000 SF renovation on an active military base in a fully functioning hospital. Walsh is responsible for the design, construction, initial outfitting, and all the transitional moves of departments. The hospital’s surgery department, which includes Sterile Processing Distribution, is required to be renovated in its current location. There is not enough available space to accommodate all surgery functions, so a portion of the department was relocated to newly renovated space on the fourth floor. Upon completion, the hospital will house a seven-OR suite that provides general, specialty and hybrid surgical capabilities. The SPD and Central Sterile Supply will also be optimized to support the medical facilities inpatient and outpatient sterilization needs. Labor and Delivery within the hospital is required to be renovated in its current location as well. C-section rooms, Recovery and Postpartum rooms and the Nursery were last renovated in 1996, the space will be demolished, and a new state of the art L&D department constructed, including new hotel quality labor and delivery mother baby rooms.
